The Community Gear Library Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the GOL! Community Gear Library (CGL). The Community Gear Library Manager will also design and implement culturally informed programs for Lake County youth and families, with the aim of engaging new families and increasing CGL usership among the Latine community in Lake County.

Summary

The Community Gear Library Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the GOL! Community Gear Library (CGL). The Community Gear Library Manager will also design and implement culturally informed programs for Lake County youth and families, with the aim of engaging new families and increasing CGL usership among the Latine community in Lake County.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Community Gear Library Operations (50%)

  • Management, inventory, maintenance, and repair of all outdoor gear and equipment
  • Staff all CGL open hours 
  • Invoicing for lost and damaged gear
  • Replacing lost or damaged gear
  • Processing and fulfilling reservations through myTurn platform
  • Provide basic instruction on gear to members
  • Soliciting and processing equipment donations
  • Design and implement creative gear storage solutions and implement long-term CGL strategy
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and interns 
  • Data tracking and reporting
  • Member support and correspondence
  • Member recruitment and relationship management
  • Design and implement new systems to improve gear library inventory control, maintenance, and overall operations
  • Manage myTurn gear and equipment database
  • Build and manage relationships with gear retailers and manufacturers
  • Manage our partnership with the Outdoors Empowered Network

Program Design and Delivery (40%)

  • Design and implement culturally informed/culturally specific outdoor recreation programs and events to connect historically excluded community members to the outdoors
  • Program participant recruitment, prioritizing historically excluded community members
  • Coordinate transportation when necessary
  • Collect participant data and feedback
  • Grant data tracking and reporting
  • Serve as primary contact and lead for community programs/projects including the family camping progression and Latino Conservation Week events 
  • Serve as a GOL! representative at organizationally aligned community events including the Loppet, summer and winter race series, career fair, etc.

Other Duties (10%)

  • Maintain program area web pages on the GOL! website
  • Assist with outreach for other GOL! programs and events, prioritizing historically excluded community members
  • Serve as GOL! representative at community meetings, as needed
  • Producing and posting social media content for specific program area
  • Attend staff meetings, check-ins
  • Manage program area budget
  • Other administrative needs

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current driver's license
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, virtual meeting, and calendaring applications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Commitment to GOL!’s mission and core values
  • Experience teaching or facilitating activities
  • Experience with outdoor recreation gear and equipment
  • Experience planning and implementing events or programs
  • Ability to work variable hours (including some evenings and weekends)
  • Experience in outdoor education preferred
  • Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish

Compensation Information

Starting Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000
