Join a team of passionate environmental educators at Green Bay Botanical Garden! The Community Education Coordinator will advancing educational opportunities for adults, children, and families to fulfill the mission of the Garden to connect people with plants. This position will coordinating adult programs to be taught by outside experts, plan and lead activities for large community days, providing support youth programs, camps and exhibits, and collaborate with other departments to promote these programs.

Summary

The Community Education Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and advancing educational opportunities for adults, children, and families to fulfill the mission of Green Bay Botanical Garden to connect people with plants. This position is responsible for coordinating adult programs to be taught by outside experts, planning and leading activities for large community days, providing support for the coordination of exhibits, and collaborating with other departments to promote these programs. This position will also support the Education Team in implementing other programs as needed.

CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Plan and schedule adult educational classes for upcoming seasons, including recruiting new class instructors
  2. Plan, implement, and lead educational components of Garden-wide community days, including Fall Family Festival and Winter Celebration
  3. Administer programs including class registrations, set up, check in, and evaluation
  4. Assist the Youth Education Coordinator in the development and implementation of educational programs, self-guided activities, and events, including creating new and improving existing curriculum.
  5. Lead scheduled school and youth field trips, and family classes including summer day camps, story time, and gardening activities
  6. Collaborate with the Events Department to develop and lead adult tours
  7. Assist in the management of volunteers and interns to implement programs, including training and scheduling
  8. Collaborate with Marketing Department to plan for educational content for interpretive signs, blogs, & social posts, assist in writing and producing content
  9. Serve on the Garden’s Sustainability Committee
  10. Assist Director of Education & Guest Experience in the development and management of the Education Department budget
  11. Work with Director of Education & Guest Experience to implement special Garden-wide exhibits and develop the related educational components
  12. Maintain adult and children’s lending libraries
  13. Attend and assist with Garden events as requested, including WPS Garden of Lights, November-December
  14. Fulfill administrative duties as assigned, including creating program events in our event management systems and tracking attendance at educational events
  15. Other duties as assigned

Compensation Information

$16.50 - $20 per hour
