The Communications Coordinator, in collaboration with the entire staff team, develops and implements strategic communications to emphasize the mission of Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) as well as the work of partners within the organization’s administrative umbrella.



The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and communicator who can oversee the development of media materials and communicate stories that foster community and stakeholder engagement and support. This position is responsible for ensuring effective marketing and communications strategies reach a diverse audience while inspiring appreciation for natural resources and growing the organization’s conservation impact throughout Wisconsin’s Lakeshore region.

Summary

Position Responsibilities

Marketing & Fundraising (50%)

  • Advance organizational communication and publicity efforts, including messaging via social media, e-newsletters, and website;
  • Develop creative marketing and communications strategies in alignment with the organization’s strategic planning and brand execution;
  • Identify opportunities for diversified audience engagement through marketing and nonprofit communications best practices;
  • Assist with management of the donor and volunteer database;
  • Assist with event fundraising and organizational sponsorship efforts;
  • Support marketing and communication efforts to broaden event attendance and fundraising goals;
  • Coordinate online giving campaigns and other Social Media revenue-generation opportunities;
  • Monitor and report engagement analytics for communication efforts;
  • Manage grant and sponsor recognition requirements;
  • Assist with grant writing as needed.

 

Operations & Administration (30%)

  • Provide administrative support for LNRP’s Directors and Partner Groups, with a focus on operational structure and capacity building;
  • Participate in team meetings and other Partner Group or stakeholder meetings and committees, as requested.

Programming (20%)

  • Support the coordination of outreach, education, and engagement activities;
  • Add value to capacity‐building and volunteer networking efforts;
  • Assist with educational programming and public events when needed;
  • Assist with organizational Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ/JEDI) initiatives 

 

Position Location and Schedule Flexibility: All LNRP employees work remotely from a home office setting of their choice and design. Occasional in-person team and stakeholder meetings will be scheduled at locations throughout the service area. Employees are entrusted with the flexibility to schedule their work days as they deem appropriate and necessary but are generally expected to be available between the weekday hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Employees are responsible for their own transportation when in-person meetings are held (related transportation expenses are reimbursable).

 

Qualifications & Required Experience: A college degree in a relevant field is preferred. Strong writing, verbal, presentation, and computer skills are essential. Experience with website design and maintenance, a successful track record in fundraising for nonprofits, and success in public relations work are also a plus. Additional expertise would include working with diverse groups, familiarity with marketing best practices, and knowledge of water resource issues.

Reporting Structure: The Communications Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director while working closely with the Director of Projects and the Director of Partnerships & Programs as well as serve as a liaison to the Development and Communication Committee. All LNRP positions are Employees At Will.

Compensation Information

Salary and Benefits: Position will be salaried at 32 hours per week (80% Full-time equivalency). The salary range for this position will be $35,000 to $40,000, commensurate with experience. A monthly stipend of $35 is offered as an offset for home office expenses. No formal employment benefits are currently available to LNRP employees. Required tax deductions will be subtracted from the gross pay rate. Other personal expenses are reimbursed upon submission of expense reports on a monthly basis. Travel is to be reimbursed at the current mileage rate used by the Federal IRS.
