The Association for Fire Ecology (AFE) is an international organization dedicated to improving the knowledge and use of wildland fire in land stewardship. With a growing membership and ambitious plan to grow our programs over the next few years, we are seeking a Communications and Program Assistant. This position is remote and we are only accepting applicants who reside in Florida or California.
Summary
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field and experience in at least some of the following areas:
- Understanding of wildland fire, ecology, or natural resource topics and current issues
- Writing and creating products to share scientific information with technical and non-techincal audiences
- Using online email marketing programs to develop newsletters and targeted campaigns
- Developing content and managing social media platforms and website (Squarespace)
- Organizing and hosting webinars or online meetings
- Editing video or audio files
- Assessing audience needs, evaluating programs, and summarizing key results
- Developing professional networks to share information and resources
Compensation Information
- Salary: Up to $23/hour depending on experience
- Hours: Up to 40 hours per week, flexible work schedule
- This position is funded for up to 40 hours per week until 9/30/25, with a possibility of extension with continued grant funding.
