Summary

Inspire young people through experiential outdoor learning at one of the largest environmental education programs in the nation! Located on Jekyll Island State Park, one of four barrier islands in Georgia that has vehicle access to the mainland, Georgia 4-H at Camp Jekyll offers environmental education programming for K-12 school groups.

Environmental Educators lead engaging, hands-on lessons focused on life and earth science, coastal ecology, and marine science. Other duties include captive wildlife care (reptiles, amphibians and fresh and saltwater aquaria), helping facilitate dining and counter sales operations, and upkeep of facilities and grounds. Compensation includes $11.50/hour (typically a 40 hour work week), limited health insurance, and two weeks of paid staff training that includes exposure to all class activities, teaching techniques, classroom management skills, animal husbandry, and CPR/first aid certification. Fully furnished on-site housing with private bed runs $80/month. The season follows the traditional school year calendar from mid-August to late May, with a typical two-week break for the winter holiday season.
