Summary
The Operations Program Director is part of the Field Education leadership team and is responsible for the programmatic and financial oversight of all aspects of Field Education at Teton Science Schools. This leadership position works directly with the Head of Field Education and the other Directors of Field Education to vision and execute the strategic plan, facilitate the professional growth of all members of the Field Education team, enable transformative programming and leverage the resources of Field Education to support other program areas and the mission of Teton Science Schools. The Operations Director ensures smooth operations of all Field Education programs through a focus on risk management, financial systems, hiring systems, and campus operating systems
Qualifications:

Master's degree or equivalent work experience preferred

Minimum of four years of experience teaching/leading in informal (outdoor/environmental education) and/or formal (K-12) settings

Minimum of two years experience coaching educators and/or outdoor leaders

Experience and ability to manage risk and make leadership decisions in front and backcountry settings
-
Superior organizational and prioritization skills
-
Familiarity with and Google Apps
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
-
Primarily based at the Jackson Campus of Teton Science Schools with time commitments also at the Kelly campus along with potential meetings/interactions/work on all campuses locations
-
Primarily indoors in an office setting: sitting and standing for long stretches while using a computer
-
Stretches of time outdoors in all weather, including extreme temperatures and arid conditions
-
May be expected to work evenings, holidays or weekends to support programs and events

Carry a backpack of 20+ lbs for 8 hours a day over uneven terrain

Time spent hiking/camping in front- and back-country settings
-
Able to drive 15 passenger vans for extended periods (up to 10 hours per day)
Responsibilities:

Field Education Leadership
-
In partnership with the Head of Field Education and the other Field Education Directors, provide stable, forward-thinking leadership to the Field Education Team. This includes hiring and onboarding new coordinators, administrators, and instructors; planning and facilitating Field Education meetings, retreats, and debriefs; and strategically guiding the Field Education team.

Coordinator Supervision and Mentorship
-
Directly supervise members of the Field Education faculty team, providing goal review, mentorship, and supervision with regards to their coordination of Field Education programs and their mentorship and training of Field Education instructors.

Operations Team
-
Lead the Field Education Operations Team in the creation and stewardship of organizational, campus, hiring, IT, risk and financial systems.

Manage group systems including calendars, pre-arrival communications, welcome packets and internal and external reservations.

Manage program administration systems including instructor on-call, supervision of Program Administrators, and interface with food service and gift shops.

Communicate the goals, needs and project outcomes of the Operations Team to the greater Field Education team while actively pursuing ongoing feedback and input.

Hosting Programs (on occasion)
-
Work with visiting groups to develop customized, high-quality, place-based education programs. Complete administrative duties necessary for high quality programs and efficient customer service including resource management, scheduling and program logistics.

Field Education Support

Serve as an active member of the Field Education leadership team.

Serve in the Director on-call rotation for Field Education.

Support and assist in the management of Field Education systems including food service, gear, budgets, hands to work, registration, operations, campus systems and marketing.

Educator Development
-
Coach field educators to develop and refine pedagogical, instructional, and leadership skills.

Plan and implement onboarding, training and professional development for field educators to provide place-based programming in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks that increases scientific literacy, understanding of place and leadership skills.

One TSS Responsibilities
-
Represent the Field Education team on the TSS Operations team.

Actively cross market TSS to all program participants and support offsite marketing efforts.

Actively seek opportunities for internal and external collaboration through programs, resources, curriculum and staff to efficiently and effectively support the mission of TSS.
