Summary

Sustainable Tompkins is searching for a Climate Fund Program Coordinator to provide leadership in promoting and managing our Finger Lakes Climate Fund, one of the oldest local carbon offset programs in the country and uniquely aimed at addressing humanity’s twin challenges of climate disruption and income inequality. Since 2010, carbon offset donations have been used for grants to fund energy efficiency projects that would not otherwise be possible in low-to-moderate income households in the Finger Lakes Region. These grants help pay for insulation, air sealing, and energy efficient heating equipment like heat pumps.

The Coordinator will provide leadership in outreach, marketing, fundraising, recordkeeping, volunteer supervision, and relationship management related to the operation of our Finger Lakes Climate Fund and associated projects.  In this role, the Coordinator will work collaboratively with the President of ST and other staff, and any contractors, partners, volunteers, and board members connected to their work areas.

The Coordinator will take the lead on creating and running offsetting campaigns to recruit more businesses, individuals, and institutions to take responsibility for their carbon emissions. The Coordinator will have responsibility for co-developing marketing materials including videos, brochures, and posters, and will maintain an active presence on social media platforms related to the Climate Fund. A major part of the role is to capture the stories of both those receiving the offset grant awards and those who take responsibility for offsetting some of their carbon emissions. Success in this position requires an outgoing personality with good multitasking and communication skills, and a dedication to earth stewardship that inspires others to take climate action.

The position is based in Ithaca, New York for 30 hrs/wk, spread out over at least 4 days per week. Evening and weekend events can be deducted from the regular daytime schedule. ST’s employee benefits of sick leave, paid holidays, and vacation leave, along with retirement and health insurance benefits will be provided on a pro-rated basis. The salary range is $20-24/hr based on experience.
