Shooting Instructors at Camp Woodie are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and facilitating shooting activities while adhering to American Camp Association and Shooting Safety standards. They ensure all safety protocols are followed, provide expert instruction, and create an engaging and educational experience for campers. Instructors will also monitor and evaluate campers’ skills, fostering a positive and safe environment for skill development.

Summary

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assume full responsibility for assigned shooting activities, including shotgun and rifle instruction, ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices.
  • Conduct daily maintenance and thorough cleaning of all shooting equipment, including firearms, ranges, and throwers, to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Monitor and manage the inventory of shooting sports materials and supplies. Report any deficiencies or needs for additional materials to the Shotgun/Rifle Experts.
  • Enforce all safety protocols and procedures related to shooting activities. Conduct safety briefings and ensure campers understand and follow safety guidelines.
  • Provide clear, effective instruction and guidance to campers on shooting techniques, firearm handling, and range safety. Offer support and encouragement to enhance campers’ skills and confidence.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and health in all activities for campers, staff and volunteers
  • Model professionalism and serve as a positive role model for both campers and staff. Adhere to camp procedures and practices including safety, sportsmanship, appropriate behavior, schedule adherence, and cleanliness.
  • Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, all-camp activities and camp functions
  • Provide a positive atmosphere for campers and staff, by demonstrating enthusiasm, excitement and energy during camp activities
  • Provide outstanding and consistent customer service to all camp guests
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Assist campers and staff in following emergency procedures (fire, evacuation, illness, injury, etc.) as needed
  • The ability to have fun
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the Camp Leadership Team 

Compensation Information

$450-600/week paid bi-weekly
