Camp Interns serve as a support role in The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature’s Summer Science Camps. Interns will learn, grow, and gain valuable experience as they assist in facilitating high-quality camp experiences under the mentorship of Camp Leads.

Summary

Camp Interns serve as a support role in The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature’s Summer Science Camps. Interns will learn, grow, and gain valuable experience as they assist in facilitating high-quality camp experiences under the mentorship of Camp Leads.

Reports To: Special Programs Manager, Camp Lead

Essential Functions:

  • Reliable attendance for a 40 hr/week summer commitment, including 1.5 weeks prior to camp for training and wrap up days at the end of camp (M-F, May 24 – August 8, not including holidays). Camp days are from 8:45 am - 4:15 pm; Intern schedules will be 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and 9:00 am - 5:00 pm during training.
  • Assist Camp Leads with implementing and delivering hands-on activities and programming.
  • Prepare and organize materials for daily camp activities.
  • Support campers in respectful and organized use of museum public spaces and exhibitions.
  • Support a safe environment for campers and staff, including following all Museum safety guidelines.
  • Support a neat, clean, and organized classroom and related facilities.
  • Foster interpersonal relationships through cooperation, helpfulness, and friendliness towards staff, campers, parents, and guests.
  • Be a role model towards campers and communicate positively with co-workers.

Range of Experience

  • Experience working with children in a learning setting is preferred

Compensation Information

  • $12 / hour
