Coastal Camp at NatureBridge is a summer day camp designed to combine marine and coastal ecology themes with hands-on educational activities and games, providing exciting opportunities for discovery in the great outdoors. As an integral member of the Camp Administrative Team, the Camp Coordinator supports the Camp Manager and Camp Director in administering and coordinating program operations and staff logistics for Coastal Camp. The role is a full-time, seasonal position.

Summary

Coastal Camp at NatureBridge is a summer day camp designed to combine marine and coastal ecology themes with hands-on educational activities and games, providing exciting opportunities for discovery in the great outdoors. As an integral member of the Camp Administrative Team, the Camp Coordinator supports the Camp Manager and Camp Director in administering and coordinating program operations and staff logistics for Coastal Camp. The role is a full-time, seasonal position beginning Wednesday, January 4, through August 18, 2023.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Supervise 10-12 education staff 
  • Respond to camp emails and phone calls
  • Co-lead staff training
  • Inventory, order and maintain camp supplies
  • Create and update curriculum and camp materials
  • Primary responder on radio for staff and camper needs 
  • Relay challenging behavior and health concerns to guardians

Experience, Competencies and Education 

  • Demonstrated experience managing risk in the outdoors
  • Experience or training in equity and inclusion work
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Experience leading or developing environmental education curriculum
  • Skills in customer service 
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and database software 
  • Bachelor’s degree and one year’s related summer camp experience; or equivalent experiential education experience
  • Current Wilderness First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification before beginning employment 
  • Valid driver's license

 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This job operates both in a professional office environment and in an outdoor setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly stand; walk up to 7 miles on uneven terrain. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Compensation 

  • $20 per hour
  • Excellent benefits package including medical insurance, retirement plan, plus vacation, holiday and sick leave plans
