This position is responsible for overseeing all student records for both Camp Backcountry and the Nature Preschool. All student files, medical records, immunization records, behavioral records, waivers, and other confidential paperwork as required by state licensing will be thoroughly checked by the administrative assistant. The administrative assistant will be responsible for answering the camp cell phone with professionalism, checking voicemails and returning phone calls, and redirecting calls

Summary

The Backcountry Wilderness Area’s mission is to improve wildlife habitat, inspire the next generation of environmental stewards, and ignite a lifelong love of the outdoors for all. Located at 5,920 feet in the heart of the Front Range, our 8,200-acre campus—featuring outdoor learning spaces, an outdoor amphitheater, a natural play space, garden, chicken coop and pastures with 20 chickens, 6 goats, and 2 donkeys, a state-of-the-art archery range, and horse corrals—serves as the ultimate learning environment. Our Base Camp sees over 100 campers each week and 8 nature preschool students each week. This position is responsible for overseeing all student records for both Camp Backcountry and the Nature Preschool. All student files, medical records, immunization records, behavioral records, waivers, and other confidential paperwork as required by state licensing will be thoroughly checked by the administrative assistant. The administrative assistant will be responsible for answering the camp cell phone with professionalism, checking voicemails and returning phone calls, and redirecting calls to the appropriate personnel. Must pay great attention to detail, be highly organized, be self-directed, and have great written and oral communication skills. Flexibility and willingness to perform any other duties and roles as assigned by the Camp Director or Education Coordinator is required. This position averages 35 hours per week, with the possibility for more hours or less hours some weeks based to needs. This position starts in March of 2022 and ends August 5, 2022. Some flexibility with setting your own schedule from March through May. Schedule May 31-August 5 would be Sunday – Thursday with start and end times between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Area is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements: • Candidates must be 21 years of age or older • Must be highly organized and self-motivated • Must be proficient on a windows based computer • Previous experience handling confidential information is a plus • Ensure that all camp records and clerical work is completed in a timely, organized manner • Serve as the first line of communication with parents when they call and routes calls to proper personnel • Knowledge of Tadpoles childcare software is a plus • Knowledge of ePACT emergency network software is a plus • Show flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced and ever-changing environment • Strong work ethic and motivation to contribute positively to the Backcountry Wilderness Area at large • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively interact with people of all backgrounds • Ability to work in a busy environment with many distractions • Being comfortable with both indoor and outdoor working conditions • Work will start in March, with ability to have a flexible work schedule March through May • Must be able to work the full camp season, May 31-August 5, 2022 Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Salary: $16—$17/hour depending on qualifications and experience
