Are you passionate about the outdoors and ready to inspire the next generation of changemakers? Cottonwood Institute is seeking dynamic and experienced field instructors to lead powerful, transformative outdoor programs year-round. Most of our adventures take place in stunning basecamp settings across Colorado’s Front Range, where students learn to connect with nature, each other, and themselves.

Explore the CAP and our out-of-school programs on our website—and come be part of a mission-driven team that believes learning should be adventurous, empowering, and wildly fun.

Summary

During the school year, you'll collaborate with our school-based instructors to bring environmental education to life through field days and overnight camping trips as part of our signature Community Adventure Program (CAP). These experiences help students build confidence, leadership, and a deeper sense of community—often for the first time in the great outdoors.

In the summer, you’ll have the chance to lead a wide range of unforgettable programs—from weeklong wilderness expeditions to urban day adventures—with incredible youth-serving partners. Every program is an opportunity to spark curiosity, build resilience, and foster a lifelong love for nature.
