Intern III: Bilingual Fishing Program Intern III (OPS) will assist the Education and Volunteer Division with marketing, executing, and maintaining Spanish-led fishing workshops. The intern will spend half of their time in the office marketing and registering participants and the rest teaching workshops, doing public outreach events, and maintaining fishing equipment and tackle. The intern will be expected to market and teach Spanish-led fishing workshops, survey participants, and present the results of surveys to Division Staff.

Summary

Intern III:  Bilingual Fishing Program Intern III (OPS) will assist the Education and Volunteer Division with marketing, executing, and maintaining Spanish-led fishing workshops. The intern will spend half of their time in the office marketing and registering participants and the rest teaching workshops, doing public outreach events, and maintaining fishing equipment and tackle. The intern will be expected to market and teach Spanish-led fishing workshops, survey participants, and present the results of surveys to Division Staff.

What You Will Do

  • Market fishing programs, online and in-person, to Manatee County residents, local non-profits organizations and schools.
  • Register participants for fishing programs and assess incoming public inquiries.  
  • Lead Spanish-language Fishing Clinics.
  • Maintain and inventory fishing equipment and tackle.
  • Deliver surveys and monthly communications to fishing program participants.  

Who You Are

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or have graduated the previous semester.
  • Spanish speaker with Native-Equivalent Fluency. 
  • Fishing and outdoor enthusiast or professional. 
  • Comfortable leading conversations in Spanish and interpreting nature. 
  • Eager to work outdoors and deal effectively with changing priorities and circumstances.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Verifiable college coursework in biology, environmental studies, natural sciences, or related field.  Volunteer and work experience will also be considered.
  • Interns must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or have graduated the previous semester.
  • Native Equivalent Spanish Language Proficiency.
  • Valid driver license required, with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire date.

Compensation Information

$11.80 - $15.95 Hourly
