Summary

Join the Education Team at Bird Conservancy of the Rockies as a Bilingual Educator to provide high quality, experiential, and culturally relevant environmental education programs to audiences of all ages! From leading field trips for school age students, to facilitating nature play for young children, to fostering authentic relationships with our community, this position helps residents of the Denver Metro Area find and connect with their place in nature.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate interactive and inquiry based environmental education programs to learners of all ages in multiple settings including but not limited to schools, community engagements and special events (in Spanish when needed). 
  • Assist with curriculum design, program promotion, pre-program communication, development of materials, and program evaluation.
  • Lead the development of culturally relevant and authentic relationships with diverse and underrepresented local communities
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities desired (unless otherwise noted):

  • Bilingual in Spanish (required)
  • Ability to foster meaningful connections with Hispanic and Latinx communities
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn local bird species and how to identify them
  • Excellent organizational, logistical and time-management skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and roles efficiently
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, including public speaking and communication with participants of all ages
  • Solid understanding of environmental education standards and philosophy
  • Able to clear state and federal background checks and drug screens
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license and personal transportation

 

Education and Experience desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in natural resources, life sciences, environmental interpretation, or education
  • Experience leading informal environmental education/interpretation programs to diverse audiences, including children
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification

Compensation Information

Salary: $19.00-$20.00/hour
