Assistant Teacher Position at Nature-Based Preschool in Redding, Connecticut. Every day at Westbrook, children are outside in the sunshine, rain, mud, wind and snow. Summary

Westbrook Nature School, now in its tenth year, is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher for our Mixed-Age Kindergarten, ages 3 to 6, for the 2024-25 school year. Westbrook is an outdoor nature-based preschool located in Redding, CT. Ideal candidates must love both children and nature, have a talent for outdoor work, every day in all kinds of weather. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, energetic, fit and strong, who brings warmth and joy to their work with young children. Please note that teachers need to be prepared to be outside all morning in sunshine, rain, snow, wind, and muddy conditions.

Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and assist in all aspects of daily activities including snack preparation and classroom maintenance. Candidates should have a strong interest to continue learning about child development and the natural world.

This position is five days a week, September through the first week of June, with the following hours:

Monday - 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM

Tuesday through Friday – 8:00 AM to 12:45 PM

We would like to begin paid training for the position this spring so the new Assistant Teacher will be ready to start in September 2024.
