Assistant Manager of Guest Experience

The Mississippi Aquarium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to be the window to the waters of the Mississippi, the Gulf Coast, and beyond. Our goal is to foster an appreciation for the aquatic environments of Mississippi and encourage guests to explore these majestic environments and play a more active role in local research and conservation efforts. 

Responsibilities (include but not limited to): 

1. Assist the Manager of Guest Experience and Interpretive Programs with the creation, development, and implementation of guest experiences and activities for adults, families, and children.
2. Support and supervise all daily onsite interpretation and guest experience staff.
3. Help manage daily operations of the volunteer program when needed.
4. Assist in the creation and management of the daily presentation and interpretive schedules.
5. Plan, oversee, and coordinate campus events for the public with the Manager of Guest Experience and Interpretive Programs.
6. Fill in and support daily programming; including tours, presentations, encounters, and educational programs, such as Homeschool Days.
7. Coordinate, conduct, and manage training and continuing education opportunities.
8. Resolve staff and guest disputes with professionalism and empathy.
9. Represent Mississippi Aquarium in a positive manner by maintaining a service-orientated disposition and using superior customer service to address challenges.
10. Work in a collaborative team environment, cross-train and support all other Guest Experience areas with projects, planning, and campus wide events.
11. Maintain the overall appearance of exhibits and aid in the upkeep of interpretive supplies and educational equipment.
12. Attend all relevant trainings and meetings.
13. Work weekends, evenings, and overnights when necessary.
