Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff for each of these programs and manages the daily operations.

Summary

Oversees and coordinates the programs for summer camp, Field Studies, quarterly rentals, portable programs, and adventure-based programs at Camp Bob Cooper through Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff for each of these programs and manages the daily operations.

Duties:

Supervision: Oversees staff and participants in the summer camp programs by recruiting and hiring support staff, training staff in teaching, curriculum design, program evaluation and implementing best practices into programs.  Schedules, supervises, and coordinates all component of staff work and activities.  Evaluates staff based on performance data.  Manages summer camp programs.

Administration and Management: Manages the daily operations of summer camp, Field Studies, quarterly rentals, Crew, portable programs and adventure-based programs.  Responsible for all marketing and development of field study programs to reach seasonal goals.  Compiles participant evaluations and completes necessary reports for all assigned programs.  Develops schedules for programming as well as routine maintenance and operations of the assigned facilities.  Responsible for inventory and organization of program equipment.

Leadership:  Serves as part of the management team consisting of the Program Director, Facility Director and site assistant directors. 

Training:  Performs and provides training for program participant safety regulations in accordance with ACA guidelines. Other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree

-Experience in youth development, outdoor education, and/or camping.

-Supervisor experience preferred.

-Must have patience, understanding, flexibility, and a lot of energy.

-Must demonstrate teaching skills and the ability to implement creative “hands on” teaching methods.

-Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt, and work hard as part of a team pursuing an objective.

-Must be physically able to perform the tasks required to teach outdoors.

-Must be willing to work long hours.

Pay:

$30,000-$38,000/year depending on experience. Housing is included. Insurance and retirement options.
