Blue Ridge Outdoor Education Center, part of Mikell Camp and Conference Center, in Toccoa, Georgia is looking for a competent Assistant Director to support the Director in running and growing outdoor environmental education programs. You will be working to enhance the community and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment. Be ready to work hard and play hard while helping Blue Ridge Outdoor Education Center and Mikell Camp and Conference Center offer guests meaningful experiences.
Summary
Responsibilities
- Support the Director in coordinating and preparing for school groups
- Assist with outreach to promote programs
- Assist with updating and developing curricula and programs
- Lead school group programs and classes
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and facilitation of Outdoor Camps
- Assist in training seasonal instructors during staff training and mentoring throughout the season
- Assist with locating, applying for, and writing grants
- Fulfill the duties of the Director in director’s absence or as needed
- Fulfill duties as assigned by the Director
Requirements
- Proven experience in leadership and/or mentorship position(s)
- Experience in outdoor, environmental, and/or residential programing
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Outstanding communication and public speaking skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Aptitude in problem-solving
- Ability to be flexible
- Positive attitude and sense of humor
- Bachelor's degree
- Pass background check
Compensation Information
Benefits
- $27,000/year
- Employer 401K contributions equivalent to 15% of salary begin after 1 year of employment
- Employer provided health insurance active beginning the first of the month after employment begins
