Beaver Creek Reserve (BCR) is an environmental education center founded in 1947. The 400-acre nature reserve includes the Eau Claire County Youth Camp, the Wise Nature Center, Citizen Science Center, seasonal Butterfly House, and the Hobbs Observatory. This unique combination of facilities provides a special atmosphere where people, young and old alike, can discover, learn and appreciate the mysteries and miracles of the world where we live. Beaver Creek Reserve is the bridge that connects what youth and adults learn in their everyday environment and adds real-life tangible experiences that support growth and understanding of the natural world.

Summary

SERVICE DESCRIPTION: Beaver Creek Reserve’s Avian Field Technician position is guided by two primary goals: 1. To provide AmeriCorps members with high-quality training and hands-on experience in avian research, conservation, and citizen science. Technicians will gain practical skills by participating in and helping lead the operations of a fully functioning avian citizen science station. 2. To support the Citizen Science Center in ensuring that the Avian Monitoring Program (AMP) runs efficiently, effectively, and professionally. Technicians will contribute to data collection, project coordination, public outreach, and site management.

Compensation Information

Bi-weekly living stipend = $857.69, Education Award = $7,395 upon successful completion of service. Onsite housing available. Use of recreational equipment (cross country skis, snowshoes, kayaks, canoes, telescope).
