Teach Summer Day Camp at the University of Idaho McCall Outdoor Science School in the mountains of McCall, Idaho 

MAJOR FUNCTION This person will report to the MOSS Program Coordinator and Adventure Day Camp Lead. They will assist in planning, implementing and teaching the MOSS Summer Adventure Day Camp. The person in this position will plan and organize instructional and fun activities for 3-9 year olds. Age groups are 3-5, and 6-9 year olds. Instructor’s preferences for age group will be taken into consideration, but not guaranteed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruct Adventure Day Camp: 90% of Time, Essential

  • Create and implement fun and educational programs for 3-9 year olds
  • Supervise students outdoors
  • Provide for safety and well-being of children including supporting health and safety practices
  • Mitigate various hazards from being outdoors, weather, waterfront, etc.
  • Maintain classroom location and materials

Manage bookings, questions and concerns from participants/ parents: 5% of Time, Essential

  • Take reservations for families when possible

Manage equipment and facilities: 5% of Time, Essential

  • Inventory and maintain teaching supplies (i.e. arts and crafts, books, science tools, lifejackets, and teaching spaces)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to pass a Federal Background Check.
  • Enrolled in or completed undergraduate degree, or 2 years relevant experience.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in a dynamic environment.
  • First aid and CPR (or ability to become certified before June 13th)- University provided training
  • Lifeguard certification (or ability to become certified before July 5th)- University provided training

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with children
  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors
  • Previous experience supervising children in a camp setting and at waterfront

Compensation Information

Pay rate is $18.00/hour, up to 40 hours a week from June 5- August 11, 2023. Housing available.
